Open Fire Imagine yourself relaxing by our large stone open fireplace with a coffee and port or a hot pot of tea. You may have to move your lounge chair back, as the fire quickly warms the inside of the log cabin. Take a good book or magazine or read one of the books provided for you, whilst leaving behind the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Brass Bed A true original log cabin has to have a roaring open fire, candles and all that is missing (or was, but not now!) is a luxurious new brass double bed. You can sit up in bed to watch the fire or relax with a glass of wine in hand - or just relax in bed! Remember to bring along your own bed linen, pillows, towels and doona.
Upstairs The cabin includes a loft area with extra beds. It can be varied to accommodate two singles or a second double bed. A cute dormer window overlooks the railway station and offers breathtaking views of the spectacular valley. It even has a quaint rear door... but then that's another story.
Kitchen A spacious timber kitchen with everything you will need to cook up either a romantic dinner for two, or a full family feast. The facilities include gas stove, gas fridge, new crockery, cutlery, pots and pans. The cabin is not connected to power, however it is adorned with unique gas lamps and solar operated lighting to remind you of life pre 1998, which was when Walhalla was connected to mains electricity.
Bathroom As you would expect the log cabin bathroom is another special feature. It has a clean compact bathroom complete with hot water, shower, toilet and hand basin. New towel rails have just been installed so remember to bring your own towels to try them out, as well as your own toiletries.
Views No extra charge for these... from the front verandah there are magnificent views of the Walhalla valley. Picture the steam train pulling in just as the first one did in 1910 at the railway station or how about a quiet drink or three on the verandah as the sun sets. To this day the cabin continues to be one of the most photographed buildings in Walhalla.
